Our Final Feast 最後のご馳走

Everyone convened at Roy's, a fine, fine restaurant just down the road, for our closing dinner: multiple courses of fantastic food. Man, that was good.

I sat with Naoko Kikuchi, Yoshi and Teruko Nakamoto, and several other new Japanese friends. From 1990–92, I lived in Tokyo, but in the fifteen years since I've been back in the States, I haven't spoken Japanese much, so my language skills have deteriorated. They're coming back online, though, I'm happy to report. And I was able to have wonderful conversations, despite my wobbly Japanese.

I hope to see everyone here—and all of you—at the next round of reward trips. (That is, if Neways decides to unlock my cubicle and unleash me, the Blog Beast, on the world of distributors again...)

It's been a blast, and I hope you've had a good time traveling with me, too.

And with that—POOF—I am gone.

最後のご馳走

ホテルからすぐ近くのとても素敵な高級レストランで、みんなが最後のディナーに集まりました。何コースにもわたる素晴しい料理。本当においしかったですよ。

僕は、菊池ナオコさん、仲本ヨシさんとテルコさん、そして日本からいらっしゃったその他数人の方々と一緒に座りました。僕は1990～1992年に東京に住んでいましたが、アメリカに戻ってもう15年。その間ほとんど日本語を話していませんでしたから、かなり忘れてしまいました。でも、皆さんと話しているうちに日本語が思い出せるようになり、嬉しかったです。たどたどしい日本語だけど、皆さんと会話を楽しむことができました。

次回の慰安旅行で、皆さんと、ニューウエイズで頑張っていてくださっている皆さん全員とお会いしたいと願っています。(ニューウエイズが僕のデスクから僕につなげた鎖を解いてくれ、ディストリビューターの世界にこのブログ･ビーストを解放してくれたらの話ですが…)

この1週間本当に楽しかったですし、皆さんも僕との旅を楽しんでくれたことを願っています。

では、皆さんのご健闘を祈り、僕は煙と一緒にパッと消えちゃいます。

Hello there. You may wonder what it's like to live the glamorous life of a blog writer and photographer.

Besides having to travel under an assumed name (mine is Cletus von Floffendorf), enter and exit hotels through the service doors, and on occasion wear a disguise to avoid the paparazzi, it's really an action-packed gig, full of danger, physical exertion, the constant threat of bodily harm.

To document the death-defying work that goes into our endeavor, I snapped a few photos of Steve Bons (photography and cinematography) and I (pseudo-photography and writing) in action. It's not for the faint of heart. And please, do not try this at home. At least not before making sure your Last Will and Testament is up to date.

FINAL STOP: Closing feast

皆さん、こんにちは。ブログライターや写真家の華やかな生活は、どんなものかと思っていらっしゃるかもしれませんね。

偽名(僕のはクリータス･フォン･フロフェンドルフ)で旅行するだけではなく、使用人と業者しか使わないホテルの裏口から出入りし、時にはパパラッチを避けるために変装し、実にアクションと危険に満ちた仕事で、体力がすごくいるし、いつも身に危険を覚えています。

命知らずの仕事を記録するために、僕はスティーブ･ボンズ(写真家兼カメラマン)と僕(偽写真家兼ライター)が活動している写真を数枚盗み撮りしました。心臓が弱い方はご覧にならないでください。どうぞ、家ではまねをしないようにしてください。少なくとも、遺言書を作成するまではこんな無謀な仕事をまねしないでください。

Flying Over Oahu In The Fetal Position 丸くなってオアフ島上を飛行

Today was the final day of events for the Crown Diamond Retreat. Distributors had the chance to take 30 minute helicopter tours over the island. Neways arranged to have the choppers land on the hotel lawn, which was totally sweet. Groups boarded and disembarked for most of the day.

The thing about riding in the back of a helicopter is that it's a bit cramped. Godfrey Tindall, who sat next to me, drew the lucky seat: he didn't have a seat in front of him, so he could stretch out his legs. So, I pulled my knees up and off we flew; the trip was well worth the shortage of leg space.

We flew over several sights, most notably (for me) Pearl Harbor. We also flew up a valley and along a steep mountain ridge, checking out the jungle as gusts of wind from a rain storm rocked our chopper, and occasionally caused it to dip and our stomachs to leap. Apparently, that doesn't mess with my equilibrium as much as being in a shark cage does.

It was a great flight, and every distributor that I spoke with was smiling from ear to ear after their ride.

丸くなってオアフ島上を飛行

今日は、クラウン･ダイヤモンド慰安旅行の最終日でした。ディストリビューターたちは、30分ヘリコプターに乗り、島を空から観光しました。ニューウエイズは、ヘリコプターがホテルの敷地に着陸するよう特別手配してくれました。グループになり、ほぼ一日中ヘリコプターに乗り降りしていました。

ヘリコプターの後部は、かなり狭いです。ゴッドフリー･ティンダルさんは僕の隣に座っていましたが、ラッキーな座席に当たりました。彼の前には座席がなかったので、足を伸ばすことができたのです。僕は膝を抱え込むように曲げ、空の旅へと旅立ちました。窮屈なことをすっかり忘れてしまうくらい、すばらしい旅でした。

いろいろな観光地の上を飛行しました。僕にとってはとりわけ真珠湾が素敵でした。谷や険しい山の背に沿っても飛びました。ジャングルを眺めていたとき、暴風雨にヘリコプターを揺さぶられ、時々急下降して僕たちのお腹が飛び上がる感じで気持ち悪くなりました。しかし、サメ観賞用の檻の時ほど、平衡感覚はおかしくならず、酔いはしませんでした。

飛行は最高でした、僕が話したディストリビューターたちはみんな満面の笑みを浮かべていました。

The Sea Monkeys In My Gut Like Beauté Nectar ボーテ･ネクターとシーモンキーが僕のお腹に

If you have been reading my blog sequentially, then you know that I now have sea monkeys living in my intestines. And today, they got to taste a prototype of Beauté Nectar, a new product in development here at Neways.

At this afternoon's meeting, Neways previewed several new products and initiatives, giving our Crown Diamonds an insider's glimpse at what we're working on. We've also invited our Crown Diamonds to give us feedback on what they saw, which will help us as we finalize each.

John Gappmayer discussed the launch of our global seamless compensation plan. Stephanie Kirk, with Jamie Anderson, demonstrated the power of several Keratonics products. Kelly Queensberry talked about Beauté Nectar, and finished by serving everyone shot glasses of the product prototype (my sea monkeys say, "Yum!"). Jamie came back onstage to discuss two different formulas under consideration for a Neways hair dye. And finally, Eric Nugent strolled onto the stage to chants of "Nooj" as he reviewed the new Roil Platinum line.

Afterwards, I mingled with distributors. I asked Australians Chele and Godfrey Tindall about their week. Godfrey loved it all: "Good shopping, good company, good activities," he said.

Chele, who serves on the CEO Advisory Board, said, "This is awesome recognition. We just play and relax. It's a great time to recharge. Life is bliss, here in Hawaii and with Neways."

ボーテ･ネクターとシーモンキーが僕のお腹に

僕のブログを順に読んでくださっている方は、僕の腸の中にシーモンキーが住んでいることをご存知だと思います。今日、このシーモンキーたちは、ニューウエイズで開発中の新製品ボーテ･ネクターのプロトタイプを試食しました。

今日の午後の集会で、ニューウエイズは新製品とイニシアチブ数種を紹介し、クラウン･ダイヤモンドたちは会社が何を開発しているかの内部情報を垣間見ることができました。各製品やイニシアチブを最終的にまとめる参考にさせてもらうため、クラウン･ダイヤモンドたちに見たことに対して意見を述べてもらいました。

ジョン･ガップマイヤーは、グローバルでシームレスな給与プランの導入について説明しました。ステファニー･カークとジェイミー･アンダーソンは、ケラトニクス製品数種のパワーを実演しました。ケリー･クイーンズベリーは、ボーテ･ネクターについて説明し、最後に全員に製品のプロトタイプを1杯づつ配りました。(僕のシーモンキーたちは、「おいしい!」と言っています。) ジェイミーが再度ステージに上がり、ニューウエイズのヘアカラーとして考慮されている2種類の製法について説明しました。最後にエリック･ヌージェントがステージに上がり始めると、｢ヌージュ、ヌージュ｣(* ヌージェントを短縮したニックネーム)と言う掛け声がかかり、新ロイル･プラチナ･ラインを紹介しました。

集会後、ディストリビューターたちと話してみました。オーストラリア人のシュールとゴッドフリー･ティンダルさんに今週の催しについて尋ねると、ゴッドフリーさんいわく、「いい買い物ができるし、集まっている人たちはいい人ばかりだし、アクティビティは楽しいし最高ですよ。」

CEO諮問委員会の一員であるシュールさんは、｢これは本当にいい褒美ですね。遊んでリラックスできて、エネルギーの充電にぴったりですよ。ここハワイでニューウエイズたちと過ごせて、この上なく幸せです。｣と語りました。

There's A Sailor In My Downline 僕のダウンラインに船員が加入

On our cruise today, one of the crew on our catamaran (in the green shirt) was curious about our group—who were we were and why were we there. He wanted to know more about our products, and just like that, our Crown Diamonds demonstrated why they are Crown Diamonds. They smoothly and naturally transitioned to a casual conversation about Neways and our health-supporting products.

I have been unable to confirm whether the man became a distributor, but he did leave with product samples and a better idea of how Neways can help him.

僕のダウンラインに船員が加入

今日クルーズに行った時、カタマラン艇の乗務員(グルーンのシャツを着た人)が、僕たちのグループについて興味を示しました。僕たちがいったいどんなグループで、どうしてここにいるのかから始まり、ニューウエイズ製品についても知りたがりました。クラウン･ダイヤモンドたちはいとも簡単に、どうしてクラウン･ダイヤモンドになれたかを見せてくれました。何気ない会話から、みんなとってもスムーズで自然に、ニューウエイズや健康を大切にする製品についてへと、会話を進めていました。

その人がディストリビューターになったかどうかは確認していませんが、別れた時には製品サンプルをもらっていました。ニューウエイズが彼にとってどんなふうに役に立つかを知ってもらったことは確かです。

How Much Fiber Is There In One Serving of Plankton? プランクトン1食に含有される繊維量

Snorkeled today. Saw some dolphins and sea turtles. And oh yeah: I drank some plankton.

This was not intentional.

I was floating in the sea about 100 meters from our catamaran, and I took a huge breath so I could blow the water out of my snorkel tube. Just then, a swell rolled into me, and I was forced to drink a briny blast of sea water.

Afterwards, peering into the deep with my mask on I could see floaties of all kinds in the ocean. Some of it, I'm sure, was plankton. And maybe some other organisms, too.

I've seen the movie "Alien." I know creepy-crawly things can gestate in my body, burst out of my stomach, and skitter away through an air vent. I can practically feel the sea monkeys, or whatever they are, in my gut setting up bungalows and establishing a small village.

Besides that, snorkeling and sailing ruled. It's just another day in paradise—both for me AND for the plankton that I inadvertently relocated to my gut.

今日はシュノーケルをし、イルカや海がめを見ました。そうなんです、僕はプランクトンを飲んじゃいました。

これはわざとではありません。

カタマラン艇から約100メートルのところでプカプカしていて、シュノーケルのチューブから水を噴出そうとして、大きく深呼吸しました。ちょうどその時、波がうねり、僕は塩辛い水をごぼっと飲み込んでしまいました。

その後マスクから海の中を見てみると、いろんな浮遊物がいっぱいでした。絶対プランクトンもその中に入っていたと思いますよ。他の生物も入っていたかもしれません。

映画｢エイリアン｣を観たけど、きっと気味の悪いもぞもぞ這い回る虫が、僕の体の中で増えていき、胃を突き破って出てきて、通気孔からサーと散っていくんだろうな。シーモンキーだかなんだかわかんないけど、微生物が僕のお腹の中で家を建て、小さな村を築き始めているのが体で感じられる。どうしよう。

でもまあ、これを除けば、シュノーケルもセーリングも最高でした。僕にとっても、ついうっかりと僕のお腹に引っ越してしまったプランクトンにとっても、パラダイスでのまた楽しい一日でした。
